Background: Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dongtae had a split childhood due to his father's absence. As the more social business partner of the Sun-Moon start-up, Father Sun traveled around the country to meet up with tech moguls, press partners, and anyone who could promote his business. Despite having good ideas for their company, he and his sister had very few venues to sell their product (other than word of mouth and their website). Because of this, Dongtae was closer to his mother and uncle who tutored him in foreign languages while his school heavily emphasized STEM subjects. He coasted by in school on his good lucks and study skills, but bored of doing tests and route memorization.
He turned toward robotics and found a lot of fun in practical application versus theory. For college, Dongtae majored in mechanical engineering and applied to various universities around the world for graduate school...only to find out that his funds ran out. Upon contacting his father, he found out that his parents divorced due to his father's infidelity. Naturally, he didn't want to go to the US (where his father's "whirlwind romance" began) and watch over his stepsister, but that was the condition of his "gift" and he figured that taking on less debt would be better for him.
Though he conceded to his father's requests, Dongtae doesn't see himself as an easily swayed soul. Obstinate and pragmatic, he only takes actions that he feels fall into his belief system (i.e. practical ones). It's hard for him to help others "out of the goodness of his heart" or any reason that doesn't start with "in return for." In his mind, the best solutions are the simplest ones and he has no time for people to complicate his life. Trades and exchanges are easy, feelings are not. For that reason, he'll often come off as very cold and even heartless if he doesn't get what he wants. The only time he appears to have emotion is when he's intellectually challenged or his step-sister is in danger.
Special Skill: Improvised Weapons → During his search roll he can "forge" weapons and bullets of his choice. Any roll that is not a monster roll is considered a successful weapon forge.

Background: Slow-moving and precise, Xing Mei isn't the normal image of a hard-rock musician (or even a dancer). She rarely gets mad, often opting for sadness-laced inquisition of whoever is arguing with her (or has hurt her). Most of her passion and energy comes from attending concerts or doing Tai Chi, an activity that she became acquainted with during college. She doesn't enjoy talking too much about her past since it's rather sad if not funny (adopted and raised under the wrong ethnicity for the first ten years of her life), but rather than rebelling straight away she figured out something more fun: wringing every last bit of guilt she could from her parents.
Because of that, many mistake her for being a "Daddy's Girl", which isn't entirely untrue but she knows when she's being treated differently and isn't afraid to call people in her family out for considering her an "other." The differences only increased between herself and her brother when her father came out as "bisexual." Sure they "accepted" him, but they had even more reason to push her away to comfort her brother and mother. Apparently to her brother, it didn't matter since she wasn't "really" part of the family.
She received marginally better treatment from her stepfather who legally adopted her when she was a teenager. Despite the strange circumstances, she never complained about her situation, choosing internalize her issues until she could vent them to a friend or take it out on herself. Being in a band helped of course, but a guitar was rather useless in the Apocalypse. Still, she has a brother that seems too smart to die.
Special Skill: Shadow Step → Instead of rolling to defend, she can use her dexterity value to dodge an attack entirely. If she uses this, she does not apply the damage reduction in that turn.

Background: Born in France, Ada was the younger half-sister to Romane. Ada’s father married Romane’s mother and the two were inseparable up until their parents divorced when they were in their late teens. Ada’s father maintained custody of her and they moved to the States while her mother and Romane stayed behind. Devastated by the separation, both girls made every effort to keep in touch and did for the ten years apart.
Ada was a promising lawyer of two years before the world went to shit. In fact, the brunette was in the midst of planning her wedding with Romane being her maid of honor. The older woman was gearing up to come visit to help plan, her flight landing right after the younger one got off from work. However, while on her way to pick up her sister, Ada received the call that her fiancee was attacked by a patient, him working as a doctor. She never got to see him due to the chaos and she couldn’t get a hold of her sister.
Ada is normally blunt and to the point, her years of working at her law firm fitting her personality perfectly. However, due to both losses, Ada’s personality has shifted more towards being hardened. She’s even more independent now, though maintains the hope that Romane’s alive.

Medical expert → gives +3 health whenever healing themselves/another person with medicine; due to her fiancee’s medical school textbooks, she’s learned how to provide medical assistance

The apocalypse hit after Mickey left, she was traveling on her week off. Her parents surprised her with tickets to the States to meet up with her cousins. It wasn’t until she was stuck on the tarmac for two hours before pulling up to the gate before she realized the magnitude of the situation.
Mickey’s personality is very mercurial. She’s very loving, caring, and humorous. However, she’s very serious when the time calls for it. She’s also very independent and can be a “loose cannon” when perceived as inferior.
